After surviving this hellish experience, Ben meets the game master, who reveals that these games are merely entertainment for wealthy clients. He tries to kill Ben by strangulation, but Zoey, who survived thanks to a gas mask, saves him, and they escape Minos’ secret tower.

Escape Room: Tournament of Champions (2021)

Six months later, Ben and Zoey reconnect. Ben has tried to move on, while Zoey has been tirelessly hunting for any clue about Minos. Their quest leads them to New York, where a chase after a pickpocket lands them on a subway train—unwittingly, the first room of a new game—along with other survivors of previous escape rooms.

Each new environment brings unpredictable terror, and the players’ survival depends on their creativity, teamwork, and ability to stay calm under pressure.

• The Electrified Subway Car, where Theo dies from an electric shock moments before the team escapes.
• The Bank Room, where they narrowly make it out thanks to cooperation and sharp thinking.
• The Artificial Beach, where Nate is swallowed by quicksand while saving Rachel, and Ben falls from a lighthouse after discovering a hidden door.
• The Acid Rain Room, where Brianna and Rachel get trapped outside the only shelter—a taxi—that Zoey is unable to unlock from within.

Two Versions, Two Endings, Two Outcomes

Released on July 16, 2021, Escape Room 2 also came out in an extended version on September 21, adding 8 minutes—but not just extra scenes. These minutes dramatically alter the plot and lead to a totally different story.

• In the theatrical version, Zoey and Ben discover Amanda is alive but forced by Minos to design new rooms. They escape, but in the final scene, they board a plane. Zoey notices suspicious clues—items that were highlighted earlier as potential indicators of traps. The tone, the music, the characters’ expressions—everything suggests they’re in yet another game. The film ends there, with a heavy cliffhanger, hinting Minos’ reach extends far beyond its facilities.
• In the extended version, Amanda is completely absent. Instead, Zoey meets Claire, daughter of Minos’ founder and architect of the deadly games. Claire claims she’s been trapped as well and asks for Zoey’s help to escape. Together, they free Ben from one last death trap. Claire confesses to having killed her abusive mother and father and to aiding the authorities in dismantling Minos. This version feels much more like a full conclusion to the saga.
